Extension care

Daily

    1.    Detangle before anything

    •    Hold the rows at the base with one hand.

    •    Use a double-bristle brush (or wet brush) from ends → mids → near the attachment.

    •    For tape-ins/k-tips, keep the brush off the bonds; for wefts/microlinks, brush to the stitch/bead gently.

    2.    Light leave-in

    •    Mist a light, silicone-free leave-in from ears down. (For tape-ins: avoid the first 2–3 inches at the roots.)

    •    Fine hair? Choose a weightless spray. Thick/curly? Use a cream, dime-to-nickel size.

    3.    Oil the ends (never the bonds)

    •    1–2 drops of hair oil mid-lengths to ends only.

    •    Skip oil on/near beads, stitches, bonds, or tapes to prevent slip.

    4.    Style + heat protection

    •    Always mist heat protectant (ears down; a light mist near top layers is okay—avoid bond area for tape-ins).

    •    Keep hot tools ≤ 370°F / 188°C (fine hair 330–350°F).

    5.    Part + polish

    •    If you wear a middle or side part, smooth flyaways with a tiny amount of light cream on surface layers (not into the rows/bonds).

During the Day

    •    Wind, gym, or driving? Put hair in a low braid or loose pony with a silk scrunchie.

    •    Hands off bonds. Don’t pick, roll, or scratch at beads/tapes.

Nightly

    1.    Dry before bed. Never sleep with damp extensions.

    2.    Braid or wrap. One or two loose braids or a low, loose ponytail + silk scrunchie.

    3.    Silk/satin pillowcase or bonnet to reduce friction.

    4.    Ends refresh. 1 drop of oil on the last 3–4 inches if they feel dry.

Wash Day (2–3× per week, or as needed)

    1.    Pre-detangle thoroughly.

    2.    Shampoo (sulfate-free)

    •    Tilt head back; gently massage scalp only with fingertips.

    •    Let suds run through the lengths—don’t rough up the hair.

    3.    Rinse thoroughly. Product trapped near beads/stitches causes itch + buildup.

  • To avoid build up shampoo twice. The first wash will remove dirty and some oil.

  • The second wash be sure to seporate your rows and get in between to ensure a clean scalp.

    4.    Condition (mid-lengths → ends).

    •    Avoid bonds/rows (2–3 inches away).

    •    Comb through with a wide-tooth comb while conditioner is in.

    5.    Optional mask every 1–2 weeks (ends only).

    6.    Towel blot—don’t rub. Microfiber towel or T-shirt.

    7.    Leave-in + heat protectant (ears down), then blow-dry roots first:

    •    Direct airflow down the hair shaft.

    •    For wefts/hand-tied, make sure stitches are bone-dry to prevent odor or irritation.

    •    For tape-ins/k-tips, fully dry bonds before styling the lengths.

Weekly/ Biweekly

    •    Scalp cleanse (if needed): A gentle clarifying shampoo on the scalp only every 2–3 weeks. Follow with rich conditioner on ends.

    •    Bond/row check: Feel for slipping tapes, loose beads, puckering wefts. If anything feels off, book a quick check-in.

Salon maintenance

    •    Hand-tied/Genius/Flat Wefts & Microlinks: move-up every 6–10 weeks (depends on growth + care).

    •    Tape-ins: every 6–8 weeks.

    •    K-tips: rebond typically 3–4 months, then full replacement.

Swimming / sauna / gym

    •    Before: Wet hair with fresh water + apply leave-in; braid.

    •    During: Keep braided; avoid submerging bonds where possible.

    •    After: Rinse ASAP, shampoo scalp, condition ends, and fully dry bonds/rows.

Don’t even think about it

    •    Oils, conditioners, or heavy creams on/near beads, stitches, tapes, or keratin tips.

    •    High heat on bonds/rows (hot tools or blow-dryer concentrator right on them).

    •    Sleeping with wet hair.

    •    Wearing tight, high ponytails daily that stress rows.

    •    Backcombing at or near attachment points.

Product Cheat-Sheet (by hair type)

    •    Normal/medium: cream leave-in (nickel size), 1–2 drops oil, standard heat protectant.

    •    Thick/coarse/curly: richer cream leave-in, 2–3 drops oil on ends, smoothing heat protectant.
